St. Vincent Tree Spider

A velvety dark grey-to-black Caribbean tree spider accented with pinkish-red setae, endemic to St. Vincent. A classic Tapinauchenius: astonishingly fast, skittish, and prone to bolting rather than standing its ground; it lacks urticating hairs and cannot stridulate, and its venom is mild. New World but not a handling species because of that raw speed. Give it a vertical cork retreat, plant cover, lightly moist substrate with good cross-ventilation, and a water dish. Intermediate.
